When did you start exploring photography?
I started photography in my early teen years but never brought it to the attention of my peers, nor my family, till 2018. I started to release my work of portrait photography in 2019.
What inspires you?
A lot of my inspiration comes from my friend Jim, who’s a very talented photographer and I tend to just have an open ear to photographers who are well known in the industry to further improve myself.
How much do you value your creative practice?
I can say photography has become more than just a hobby and has given me opportunities to meet new people and showcase my craft to a larger audience outside of my instagram.
What advice would you give them?
If you’re someone wanting to get into photography, my advice is take your time with your craft and remember that sometimes the blurry photos, tell the best stories.
What’s next?
I also have a project that’s in the works, called “eyes of the minority” which is a short film I'm putting together shortly.
My name is Lilehi, I’m 22, from Manurewa and I’m a photographer.
Being behind the lens allows me to tell a new story with every photo I take.
