Join the U.C.B.
We’re looking for the next generation of the Unfold Creative Block, A.K.A the U.C.B. - a collective of young minds, aged 16-22, who act as the core guiding light and navigators for Unfold, alongside our wider Unfold whānau.
This is a paid, 12-month opportunity starting in January 2024, involving monthly meetings to co-design future Unfold events and online content.
Nominations close Sunday 12th November
What is the U.C.B.?
The U.C.B. is a crew of 12 young people from South Auckland who bring that hustle energy, creativity and community mindset. They feed into all things Unfold - from events to what we post online.
It’s really flexible around school, family and work commitments + our team is always here to support when we can.

“I’ve always loved art in all its forms but what inspired me to start creating my own visual art was a lot of the cool design work I’d see in the art rooms at school and on social media. Seeing an idea come to life will always be a buzzing experience for me.”

“I will never know what my ancestors' dreams were nor am I interested in speculation, however being optimistic in the preservation of my work I'd hope to secure my dreams in time for those long after me.”

“I’ve always had a passion for the arts but only recently found a way to combine all my talents into one outlet. So if you’re ever feeling like something is not 100% for you or you feel like you're missing something, with the right balance you can have it all.”

“@fromthirtyone started when I took a scary career change from med to jewellery. It was the first time I did something because I genuinely enjoyed it and stopped focusing on just trying to secure financial stability/freedom whilst sacrificing my happiness.”

“I hail from the 63 wiri2meke and I am a better evolved version of a typography artist who deals in block letters and spray paint. I also dabble in graphic design and more mainstream forms of painting.”

“I grew up watching the world move and develop before my eyes. I guess I always thought time moved too fast and as a result I wanted to stop time with photos.”

“I want to cultivate a legacy portfolio, so that whoever comes after, knows things like radical thoughts and joy are not frivolous. We don’t have to write or make things with deep meaning anymore, if we don’t want to.”

“I understand now that my experiences are just not my own but the experience of many within the Pasifika diaspora. I hope the work I create is a reflection of myself that others after me can see themselves in, to let them know they can do it too.”
